Using a progression-based learning framework, four types of labs help students retain skills over the long term.

Skill labs offer guided practice on individual skills with positive feedback when tasks are performed correctly and provide hints if needed.  

Challenge labs are timed labs that offer some hints, but if a student wants a score, the task needs to be repeated without using hints. Students can review their speed on a leaderboard, motivating them to drill and practice to get the ranking they want. 

Applied labs are timed, scenario-based projects that test students on their ability to connect their knowledge to real-world activities without hints. 

Live Projects are scenario-based projects that are live in the Microsoft Word^® application.
